Wow, what Dr Lori Ce Ebert, man, you got to check that out. I bet you that's a sick ass show. But we're live Thursdays at one on a star worldwide network. Today and studio we are going to have my boy Chris Zimmerman he's with eat, sleep movies. He does a podcast out there. Man and Chris Zimmerman, his four year old son, Jonah, just got diagnosed with type one diabetes. Right. So we're going to have Chris on the show to kind of talk about, you know, what goes on through your mind and how do you act and react and how do you deal with God and how do you deal with your spouse and your peers and your family when you find out your child has a lifelong disease? Right, there's no cure for diabetes. It's with you forever, kind of like an ex wife. You know now I'm just kidd it, but it is. It's with you forever. Right. You're kid just got diagnosed with type one diabetes and you know, Chris and I were going to chop it up. You know about his podcast, eat, sleep movies, and we're going to talk about the effects of type one diabetes and kind of, you know, get get you guys a little bit more information on type one diabetes and how you could help out. And I know his family has like a Gofund me page and stuff, so we're going to shout out some information on how you could help out. Chris and his family and all that stuff. Unfortunately, right before the show, Chris hit me up with a text saying that his son had to get rushed to the hospital. Right is it? His wife had had to rush their sons at a hospital and he had to drop what he was doing and unfortunately, wasn't going to be able to make the show because you got to be with your kid, right. There's no there's no if, fans or buts about it. I don't care if I got a meeting with the president, the Dolly Lama, the Pope himself. If something's going down with my kid, I'm going to be there, and that's how that's how the world works, right, and that's how that's how it works when you're dealing with the sick kid. And I remember, you know, a few months ago, check out the episode we did with Pierce Family Foundation. You know, we had Megan and Kylie in the studio with the Pierce Family Foundation, with those girls are doing there. They have a nonprofit. That is exactly for what Chris is going through right now. This drop everything. I have to focus on my kids did business right, that's what they do. So when these parents man, they got to drop everything and they got to go focus on your kid, their kid. How long do you think their employer is going to keep up with that? Right, Oh, you got to take another half day. Oh, you're cutting out early again. Right. And at first it's like you don't want to think of the employer. is like being cold hearted, but it comes to the point where the employers like, will you keep taking these half days? I can only pay you for a half a day. Right. So...

...now say you take three or four half days in a month. Well, that's going to add up to some serious change in your pocket. Right. How you going to and if you're already living, like most people in the US are living, paycheck to paycheck, and a lot of people are living like less than paycheck to paycheck, right, because they throwing some stuff on that plastic. So what do you do? Right? Well, that that's when you can turn to the Pierce Family Foundation and they can help you out with, you know, mortgage payments, car payments, making sure your powers stayed on, your gas is working, make sure your water don't get cut off, all these things, right, because you call up the power company you're like, Hey, you know what, my kid just got diagnosed with diabetes, or my kid just got diagnosed with cancer. You know, could I skate a couple month? They ain't given a shit. They will cut your power off right. But what are you supposed to do? You've been living out of a hospital, you've been living out of a suit case. You know, when you when your kids got to go, you gotta go right because that's the most important thing in your life. You're not thinking about that cell phone bill or that car payment. And next thing you know, to repo man visits hospitals to they'll repull your car right out the hospital parking lot. So so today show, you know, I'm gonna have to ask my listeners to bear with me, because we kind of winging it today. Right, we got thrown a curveball. We got thrown some change in life, and nobody really likes to deal with change, right. It's really hard for everybody to deal with but what can you learn from change? Like how it's your choice, how you choose to deal with change. Right. So for me, for here's a perfect example. Right, my guest on that was supposed to be live in studio today called up last minute said Hey, man, I can't make it. So now I could have either stressed out right. I could have stressed out, wigged out. Bugged out was like, Oh shit, what am I going to do? Cancel my show? My Life's in ruins, or I can just roll with it right and be like, all right, God will bless me with the best show humanly possible and my audience needs to hear whatever is going to come out of my mouth today the way it's going to come out right, because there's somebody out there right now who's dealing with change, dealing with change in their life, and they don't know how to accept it, they don't know how to deal with it, they don't know how to how to keep moving forward. Right. They're all freaked out, especially and a lot of parents who have school age kids. They'll know where I'm coming from because the school that my girls go to, we've dealt with change over the last few years. Right. Some teachers weren't cutting it, so they got, you know, chopped up. You know, they they went through like an administration change. Some of that, some of the people up the top, you know, got replaced. Filter through, you know, out with the old, in with the new, and parents are attached to teachers right, like parents, if there's a teacher that parents love. Dude, they're pissed if it doesn't work out. Right, even if they leave on their own acquard, right, like they're they're leaving for like greener pastors or whatever. I parents are still pissed, like teachers don't have their own life. Right. We had a teacher, man, she's an amazing teacher to actually Aba, probably ABA favorite teacher up to date. And they moved schools, right. She moved to teaching a different school because she wanted to teach at the school that they sent they were going to send their little daughter to kindergarten. That you can't be mad at that, right. And and our school, to school my girls go to. It's not a religious school, right, just a regular role private school, no religion, philosophy, and they wanted to send their kid to a religious based private school. Parents are still pissed because she left. Now I understand. Yeah, she's a kick ass teacher and you could be gone and sad and disappointed, but you can't get mad at somebody because they're doing something for the betterment of their family. You know, we've had math teachers get swapped in and out, language arts teachers, all this different change right. And people, man, they get crazy. Right. They leave schools. Right. We've had parents. We've had parents leave our school because they didn't like the changes that were made. So, because one teacher or two teachers that you like a lot are gone, you're going to uproot your family and your kids and you're going to go to an entire new school where they don't know any new any teachers. Right, all teachers are new. And the funny thing is is I talk to them years after they leave and they're like, Oh man, we should have just stayed. Things were even worse at that school. Or they end up coming back. Right, end up coming back. Change is hard, though. You know, we don't like changing jobs. Will say in a Shitty job for a lot longer than we should because we don't like change. We will stay in a crappy relationship a lot...

...longer than we should because we don't like change, because it's scary. Right, change is scary. Something new is scary, the unknown is scary. But we make our biggest growth right. The biggest growth in our lives comes when we step out into these scary zones and we make these changes in our life and we just accept it. Right, we just accept it. You have an important meeting and they cancel it. Well, you can flip out, you cool wig out, or you can just accept it and be like okay, you know, I read this book. Edwin Gaines has this book and it's like for laws to prosperity or something like that. But it's a good book. If you feel like looking to just Edwena gains I think she only got one book, so check it out. But she talks about in that book how she missed the flight one time. Right, she was flying from somewhere to somewhere. I don't know exactly remember, but she was flying from somewhere to somewhere and she missed her flight and everybody in the airport that was supposed to be on a flights like bitching up at the girl working behind the desk right on a computer, like she has control over that stuff, right, like she's a mechanic, she knows how to fix a plane, like you know, she's the FAA. She can say yeah, put it in the air, fuck it for risking it. Let's go get these people on a plane because this dude's got an important meeting. He has to get there. Right, we're going to risk hundreds of lives, because this dude has a meeting. Right. So all these people are pitching at the lady and Edwina decided, you know, she had a choice. She could either get angry with the change or she can just accept it and go with the flow. So she went and bought herself like, you know, a cheap mystery novel. Went, you know, went into the restaurant at the airport, she ordered some kind of like Khlua drink or something, and she just posted up for a couple hours and waited till the next flight and she read a book, She met some interesting people and she just enjoyed her time, right, because she chose to accept the change. She chose to accept the change and just roll with it. Right. How many times in our lives do we just got to roll with things? You know, especially during this holiday season, change happens, things happen, things are not always the same as they used to be. You know, me and future wife, you were just talking about this, how the dynamic of holiday season. Right, you got the family dynamic and you get married and then you get divorced and then you get remarried and now the dynamic is crazy, right, and you got your parents and your siblings and, you know, your step siblings and your aunts and your uncle's and all these people, right, all these people that want a piece of something. They want a piece of something right, and it did and it's all with love. That's the thing. It's all with love. You know, people want to see you, they want to spend time with you, they want it to be this magical holiday experience that they have in their head. Right, but as relationships grow and things grow, there's change. You know, there's change, and with that change comes new experiences and new opportunities. So if any of my listeners out there, you know they got some change going on in their life, try to accept it, try to go with the flow instead of freaking out as soon as something happens where it's a change, an unexpected change, instead of flipping out, pump your brakes ten seconds be like, okay, how could I turn this into a positive? How could I not freak out about this? How could I not let this affect the rest of my day? Because change happens and you need to deal with it and you need to just roll with it and you need to turn it into a positive, not a negative. So here's the part of our show, speaking of change, where we have our guests play a song that's important to them. Right. So, my boy Chris Zimmerman, you know with eat, sleep movies he was, he picked a song right, born to lose by devil wears product. I have never even heard said Song. Don't know what the songs bout. No, don't know if it's got a hi fee beat. I don't even know what kind of music it is. But we're going to play this song and you know a it's going to be, what it's going to be. I hope you guys enjoy it. If you got any questions, you want to chime in on this week's show, you got a topic you want to bring up, because we're just winging it today, right, we're winging it. I'd rather be on a show called naked and happy, naked and cozy, naked in bed like when they come out with that TV show, then future wife and I might jump on that. But naked and afraid, I ain't about that. I don't want to get bitten by a snake with clothes on. I definitely don't want to get bitten by a snake. Will close off right. So, but this sounds like on a cool man national academy and outdoor survivals. Check out the course update three pounds survival, kit man. That sounds pretty cool. So, like I was telling you guys earlier, Chris Zimmerman from eat, sleep movies was going to come on talk about his four year old son, Jonah, diagnose what type one diabetes, but unfortunately he wasn't able to make it because at the last moment his wife, he called him up said honey, Joan has got to get to the hospital, got to get to the hospital now. You need to drop what you're doing and you need to meet us there. Right and then, what's a good parent do? What's The DAD would swag do? Drops everything they're doing and gets where he's got to go. And in these moments, in these moments, in these moments of change, right when you could either freak out or choose to just go with the flow, right and write it out. Think about if you have a sick child and all of a sudden, like your days just going do, to do, to do. You know, I got some meetings I got to go to. You know, I got some things I got to do. Maybe hit the gym, get my swollen, you know, maybe go for UN all things Shawn doesn't do, but maybe maybe there's things. You got this list, right, you got this list of things I got to do today. I'm gonna do today, my check off list. And then Bam, you get that came. Your son's got to go to the hospital. Of course you drop what you doing. You drop what you're doing and and you get to where you got to go, you know, and that's why, you know, once again, we got to give big ups to Pierce Family Foundation, those girls, Miley or Kylie. Why I call her Miley. It's kind of looks like Miley Cyrus, maybe little crazy Kylie and Megan from Pierce Family Foundation. You know, that's where they pick up. That's where they pick up. Where the hospital? Let's go. You know, you got kids that have certain kind of cancers and certain types of diseases and they have to be in a sterile house. I don't know about you, but I have two kids and a dog and me, right, and me I'm like the see. So if you were to if my house were to be like a typical house, you know, two kids, a husband and a wife and a dog with me living in my house, it's like ten kids then, plus the two girls, plus future Wifei and a dog. Right, because I make the mess of like ten four year olds, right, ten four year old wrapped up. That's the kind of devastation I do on my house and a daily basis. Right. I take stuff out of my pockets, I put it on the countertop. That's where it stays. It stays on the countertop till I need it again. If it's some spare change, if it's some notes, car key, whatever it may be, it stays there. I take my hat off in a whole separate room at the house and it'll stay there till it's needed again. Got To kick the Jordans off eventually here. Right, they'd typically stay there until they're needed again. But when you got these kids that have these sicknesses, man, their houses have to be sterile environments. Is Hard for a parent to keep a sterile environment right. So they got to hire in professionals to sanitize everything. That cost money. People don't have money. They could hit up the Pierce Family Foundation. They'll be more than happy to cover that TAB. You know, you got to drop everything. One of your spouses ends up losing their job, you hit up to Pierce Family Foundation. They can help you with that mortgage, help you with that rent, and I know that they've helped. Like a lady she would. You know, she was doing good, paying her bills, single mom, paying her bills. Everything was going good, and all of a sudden her landlords like, Hey, I'm selling this place. You got to be out in thirty days. Right. Well, she...

...needed to move. That cost money. You got to rent a truck, got to move your stuff. Your new spot wants first and last month's rent. Like there's a huge, huge payout that you gotta you got to come up with. So she hit up the Pierce Family Foundation. Man, it took care of that for it, because these things happen in life, right, these changes happen. We can't control it. We could just accept it and we can ride with it, or we could freak out. We could freak out about it. I personally, I choose to just accept it. So we got a tweet. I'm going to try to read this and talk at the same time, because I'm not good at doing two things at once. I'm really not. I'm gonna try this. Let's see. I'm just going to read it verbatim. Hopefully they didn't like hopefully it's not a weird question because I'm just reading it. It's like the dude from that movie where he's a newscaster anchor man and he just reads whatever's on the propter. Dude. That's me. That's how I am. I'm just going to read straight up. Okay, how do you stay saying during the holidays when you have crazy family? Ha Ha, you can ask anybody is we talked about this a couple weeks ago. Man, how do you stay saying during the holidays when you have a crazy family? Everybody's got a crazy family, you know, everybody. It's funny. We see TV shows or we see like and social media is really jacked up everybody's brain, right, because social media everybody's pet posting these pictures, these amazing pictures, right, perfect family, perfect family at the holidays, perfect holiday dinner. You know future Wifei she had a an all girls like baking night, right. So they all like baked cookies and then brought cookies to this one girl's house and then they all ate the cookies and judge the cookies on like who won best decorative and best tasting? Right. So she, like is on pinterest checking out cookies and she sees these cookies all man right, these cookies look perfect. So she bakes the cookies, epic fail the first time, bakes them again, epic fail, but they taste amazing, right. They just look nothing like what the picture looks like. So she takes them sort of thing. And you know, everybody loves their cookies, and you know I like to make fudge and holiday candies and cookies and stuff, and we like to put them in little tins and give them to the people that make our lives easier, right on a daily basis, the people that make our lives easier, the landscapers, the postal service workers, the pool cleaners, you know, all the thing, all the people that that are in our lives that make our daytoday lives, run smoother. We like to hook him up with some holiday treats and everybody's been digging her cookies, right, Oh man, just gobbling them up. They're so delicious. But she still bummed because they don't look as amazing as that photo. And I'm telling her, I'm like look, first of all, before this person took a photo of that, they prepped them like a thousand times probably, right, and then they cherry picked. They Cherry picked the very best cookies. So I went through there, right, and I went through her little bucket of cookies and I cherry picked like five nice cookies, five perfect cookies, right, and I put them in a nice stack and I took a picture of them all, like look, does not look amazing? Don't those look like perfect? And she's like yeah, I'm like that's fake, right, that's fake. You can take any little moment and you can put it all together pretty, pretty, pretty, and take that picture, but that's fake. Right. That's not how real life is. Real life is dirty, right. Real life is conflict, real life is button heads, because it's the whole ying and Yang of life. Right, God could have easily made this life smooth and perfect, but then what fun would that be? What change would we have to hit our heads against the wall for to then have that great success? Right, if everything was easy, peasy lemon squeezy, it would be boring as hell. We have to have that Yang and that Yang. Right, my future wife would not be as happy if she married somebody is ocd about cleaning as her. She's got to marry a messy Marvin, right, because that's that's God's sense of humor. She's got to marry a messy Marvin. I will keep her in cleaning work for the rest of her life. But if I was OCD about where all my stuff went and she moved something to mind, I'd flip out right because my shit's got to be in my right spot. And then she be like no, this is the spot and I'm like no, this is a spot. Wouldn't work out me. Shoot, I don't care, move my stuff wherever you want. Just be available if I can't find it, because I'm going to call it as right. If not, I'll wear something else. It's crazy, right. We need that ying and that Yang,...

...and that's what family's all about. Family is all about ying and Yang. There's going to be days where your family just drives you nuts and there's going to be days where you just like will die for them, and that's what it's about. And during the holiday season it gets blown up a million times worse under a magnifying glass, right because everybody has different holiday expectations. Everybody has their ideal perfect holiday. You know, my perfect holiday is watching my girls open up presents right, having like fixing a nice feast on Christmas Eve, having my babies wake up after Santa came on Christmas morning, grip open their presence, make some breakfast, maybe a Mimosa, to click on that MBA and just post up. But then I got divorced. Well, now I only have my girls every other Christmas Eve and then then I have them every other Christmas Day. So I don't get to live out my dream right, the way that I envisioned my life going, the way I envisioned my Christmas is going. I had to adapt to change. Now I could have went kicking and screaming all my life sucks, Yada, Yada, Yada. But you know what I did? The first Christmas Eve I didn't have my kids, I went and fed the homeless because it made me feel good about myself. And then, after I've fed the homeless, I hosted a big Christmas dinner at my house with all my friends. Anybody who didn't have a place to go, because that's the cool thing about Arizona. Arizona's filled with a bunch of transient people. These people here from everywhere, right. Very few people are born and raised in Arizona, so there's a lot of people here with no family. I'm like, Yo, meet Casa, the whole spread. Let's do it. If you ain't got a place to go, you always welcome at my house. If you and this shout out to all my listeners, if you're in the Phoenix Metropolitan Area Christmas Day two thousand and sixteen and you don't have any place to go to eat dinner, Holler at me, hit me up at your coach. Shawn, you more than welcome to come to our Cassa, because if nobody should have to be alone for Jesus's birthday, we going to light some candles and we going to get it hi fi right. So just understand that this holiday season everything's under the microscope. Everybody wants that perfect, perfect holiday season and there is no perfect to it, because crazy uncle Bob's going to be crazy uncle Bob, alcoholic tom is going to continue to be alcoholic Tom. Crazy aunt susie's going to still be crazy aunt susie tomorrow. It's just the way it works. You just gotta Love Them, Love Them for their warts and all, and throw a smile on that face, right, because you know, you know, in the back of your mind you're like, Yep, I listened to Dad's with swag and I know that all these motherfuckers is crazy, right. And Hey, if nobody else is in your family's crazy, then you must be the crazy one. So then you just sit there and Giggle, right, because every family got a black sheet. And if you don't know who the black sheep is, and it's probably you. That's the way it works. That's the way it works. Yeah, when they's raising her hands, she might be the black sheep. When he's the black sheep of her family. I doubt that. Wendy's angelic. Like. If you guys are ever in a Phoenix area and you want to stop by the Studio Thursdays One PM, Holler, I've me hit me up on twitter. Now, this is a private studio. You can't just become walking in here all Willie Nillie. It'll take you out. But I'm telling you, you want to set up an appointment. Coming to studio, sit down on one of these soft couches and check out the show. You'll get to see angelic, Wendy and Jelly. She like an angel from heaven above. And that doesn't mean you can now start tweeting at her aller and out her on social media asking for a date. I'm just telling you, she like an angel. She's kind, compassionate, friendly, warm her smile and hugs. Oh Man, you don't even know who we amazing angelic. I'm telling you. She thinks she a black sheep. Ain't a black sheet, she ain't got black sheep in her body. All right. So we about to hit up our second we've about to hit up our second song, right, and change is good, baby, change is good. You need to roll, roll with it. So the next song my boy Chris picked, and I don't know why this is one of his favorite songs, but hey, this is one of his favorite songs. When do you know? Was a Headbang into that last devil. Where's proud of joint? Tell you, man, I was about to get a mosh pit going in here. I was going to call Dave Pratt, the owner of this studio, and I was about to say Dave, get in here, ed, get it. We Mohant, we Mohan man, but we didn't. We we decided to keep it cool. And just look at this...

...beautiful view and this amazingly full parking lot at Northstrom's. It's like the mall is packed. People like little ants, just running around crazy. So this next song, man, beautiful dark side by the classic crime. You're listening to the DADS WITH SWAG. You want to chime in any time, hit us up at your coach, Shawn. So, like I said before, we're supposed to have my good friend Chris Zimmerman on the show with eat, sleep movies. He wasn't able to make it because his four year old son, Jonah, had to get rushed to the emergency room last minute. Jonah got diagnosed a few months ago at type one diabetes, and every now and then, man, change happens, shit happens, life happens. You got to just go through it, man, you got to work through it. If you're listening to this show, man there's there's a great organization, because it was cool, like I didn't know what I was going to talk about. I didn't know what I was going to talk about today. I'm like, all crap, you know, right for the show. He hits me up, he's like, man, I'm not going bill to make it. I'm sorry, you know, my son got got rushed to the hospital. We got to do it. We gotta do hey, the sounds not on. We got to do what we got to do. Okay, for some reason I thought when sound wasn't working, I got a tweet and I still on the air. I'm still on the air, but maybe I'm not. I don't know. We'll play it by here. So anyways, you know, he Chris says, Hey, he can't make it, can't do it right. So we got change. Change happens. And then we're talking about we had these girls like man just a couple months ago. Pierce Family Foundation, Kylie and Megan came on the show and they were talking about, you know, how their organization steps up when families are going through these kind of circumstances and they help families at the home. If you want to help families at the home. They tweeted me. Pierce Family Foundation tweeted me. They listen to my show? Yeah, but Pierce Family Foundation tweeted me and said thanks for the shout out your coach, Shawn. If anyone wants to help our families, you can do so by texting toys Ahoy to five, zero one, five, five. That's toys Ahoy, Tho ys a h o y to zero one six and text that to five, zero one five. Five. So Toys Ahoy, two thousand and sixteen. Text that to five zero, one hundred and fifty five. If you want to throw down the donation to Pierce Family Foundation and help these families out at the home, because I know my boy Chris Zimmerman man would he's going through right now. You drop everything and you do what you got to do, and that's that's being a dad with swag, that's being a mom with swag, a grandparent with swag. And before the show wraps up, I'm going to give out this this information again, so in case you don't have a pin or anything, don't worry about it. You and got to rewind or anything like that. I'll give it out right at the end. But we're talking about change, because change happens. And when change happens, how do you react? You flip out...

...or do you say, Hey, you know what, I'm gonna pull myself up by a bootstraps and I'm just going to keep on keeping on. It's gonna work out. This show turned out to be amazing. I love it. Got To rock out and almost make a mosh pit. Then I got to chlax a little with that second joint homie put on here. I can't wait to have Christ in the studio because I want to ask him where he got his different taste in music, because we went from one extreme to the next extreme. It's crazy bananas up in here, but change is good. Roll with the change because when change happens, that means something amazing. Some amazing. You have the opportunity for something amazing to happen next. Right. So, when the when these things happen, these things pop up, pop out, try to stop for a minute and look at the positive. How could I turn this around? My flight got delayed. Maybe I can go make a new friend, make something, make a new pal that has the same interest as me, meet a stranger. Maybe I could call my mom or my dad that I haven't talked to in a while, or reach out to that homie that that you haven't haven't spoke with. Maybe rite a couple emails, call your kids, right maybe saying to yourself, man, I missed this flight. God must be telling me I need a break all, my car broke down. God must telling me I need to walk a little. You don't know what it is. You don't you don't know his plan. But instead of automatically assuming that's going to end up negative.
